The End of 2008

It has been a while, so there is a lot to catch up on.

Jim has been off since noon on December 23; this is his first big vacation since we got married, and he is loving it. He continues to love his job and has been able to get a lot done around the house, and outside. He ordered his seeds to plant for spring.

Janey is doing well- she had to go back to the vet for a laundry list of things. She came home with the most awful smelling mite dip that made our entire house smell for at least four days. She also has two pills, one for inflammation (she started limping over the weekend) and one for her gastric system (she also had some issues with throwing up). She also had a tick behind her ear, which the vet treated, and it has already fallen off. The last thing she came home with were packets of powder called Forbid; yes, hopefully they will forbid her from eating her excrement. We are still waiting for these results...

Christmas was incredibly busy and such an incredible blessing for us. We got everything from queso bowls to tools, pajama pants to snow globes, and from dog toys to a new flat screen tv. We got tons of gift cards and money and a fire pit. Of course, the presents aren't the reason for Christmas...

The house continues to come together- I keep moving things around, probably getting on Jim's nerves. I keep making plans, and pricing things for getting the rooms JUST how I want them.

If I think of anything else, I'll get back to ya!

The Joys of Home and Dog Ownership

Yesterday, was a busy day! Jim and I both worked half a day, then worked on Christmas shopping. It was beautiful here yesterday, so Janey was outside for 85% of the day. She was in the sunroom during Parent's Night Out, and left us TWO presents. Then, after I had gone to bed, Jim was up, and she left TWO MORE presents on the bath mat (her preferred place of relief). SERIOUSLY? She was outside ALL DAY and it's like she doesn't understand that she needs to take care of that stuff when she is out.

Before all of that happened, Jim was taking some trash out, and opened the storm/screen door in the sunroom and the door (and frame) completely fell off the back of the house. Luckily, we have another door, but it is drafty so we gotta get that fixed today.

As a funny story amidst all of the "strife" is this: Janey sleeps at the foot of the bed every night. She is too afraid to jump down, so she lays there all night. It's quite nice. Well, yesterday, Jim decided to sleep in instead of getting up at 5:30 and working out. Janey didn't get to go on a walk, and she was apparently unhappy. She walked up the bed in between Jim and I, proceeds to SIT on Jim's head until he moves. As he sits up and declares that he was laying there, she turns over and rubs against his pillow and ends up on her back, wanting him to rub her belly. It was so funny...

Janey's First Injury and GTD

Last night, Jim took Janey out to go potty before bedtime. I was already in bed reading, when I hear him laugh out loud (and anyone who knows Jim's laugh, knows that it is pretty loud) and ask Janey if she was okay. You see, our yard is divided almost directly in half by a chain link fence. It has one small gate in the middle of it. We usually leave it open. Janey LOVES to run around, and usually runs figure eights, always cutting it super close. Well, you guessed it; since it was night time, she ran into the fence. Well, Jim brings her in, laughing, and then I notice it: her eye is bleeding. I sprang into action (more annoyed I had to get out of my warm bed) and we decided she had only cut her eyelid and so we didn't need to call the doctor. It is still swollen, but I don't think it is bothering her too much.

Today, I stayed home from work (there wasn't anything to do, really) and was a productive housewife. I finally got our guest room put together, went grocery shopping, cleaned the bathroom, swept and mopped the hallway, and did some Wii fit. I love these kinds of days, and so does Jim. It makes me want to be a stay at home mom/wife all the more. Hopefully, especially when kids come along, that can be a reality.

December already?

We can't believe that December is already here! Here is what's been happening in the Johnson household:
1. Janey went for her first vet appointment. She weighted 30.5 lbs! Clay (the vet) said she was overall healthy, but was going to have some dental problems, and had some bald spots that we are going to watch carefully. He gave us some good advice on different things, as well, which was really helpful, seeing as we are first time dog-parents.
2. Sarah has reached the end of her semester. She has two finals on Monday and then she will be done until January 17th. She is very excited for some time off. She has EIGHT classes left to take until she graduates. Praise the Lord!
3. We are going to get to go to Washington DC for Jim's work. He has a staff meeting to attend with the Congressman, so we are going to stay a couple of extra days and make it our anniversary trip. Jim has been before, but Sarah hasn't. We leave January 8th and will return January 11th.

That's all for now! As soon as Sarah gets done with finals, she hopes to get the house completely in order and decorated for Christmas. Can't wait...

Janey Johnson...

Well, now that she has gotten used to things, she is definitely getting more comfortable and it is so fun to watch her personality come out. However, what is not so cute is when I get home and find her bed in complete shreds. We love her so much though! She is especially fond of Jim. She whimpers at the door when he leaves in the mornings and loves seeing him when he gets home. We went on another walk today, and she still just doesn't have it figured out. She walks RIGHT in front of me. If I wasn't pay attention, I would definitely trip or step on her.

I have two more days of class...PRAISE THE LORD!! Then next week I have two finals on Monday and one on Tuesday. I can't wait to be done with this semester. After finals are over, I can finally finish unpacking, cleaning, and getting the house all decorated for Christmas!! I love CHRISTMAS!!

A New Addition

We are officially out of our apartment. There are also, now, an entire room and a half of boxes that still need to be unpacked. That will happen AFTER I get done with finals (next Thursday).

This past weekend, Jim, with the help of his parents, put Christmas lights up. Big thanks to Grandmommy and Granddaddy for letting us have their old ones!

Our biggest announcement is that we got a puppy dog! Her name is Janey. She is eight months old and is a collie/heeler mix. She is so fun! She chews ANYTHING she can get in her mouth, including sticks, her bed, paper, her toys, and she has a weird habit of eating her feces. We're not totally sure about that, so we have to watch her closely! Weird, I know, but an important fact in our life right now. She has had no accidents in the house and is so sweet when she is sleeping! We love her!
